WHAT WE DO
Nau te rourou, Naku te rourou ka ora ai te iwi
He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
Counselling - Aotearoa has changed over the decades and will continue to change. We see this as an exciting time and opportunity to assist whanau/agia/families to build on their potential, realise their opportunities to achieve their aspirational goals and dreams.
Whilst the current youth justice process may work for some youth offenders, there is a group of serious and persistent offenders who require an intensive framework of interaction and supervision to address entrenched behavioral and thought processes related to their offending behavior and choices. Fresh Start aims to hold youth offenders accountable for their actions within a supportive and meaningful environment that encourages personal responsibility and positive lifestyle choices.
Fresh Start utilises Youth Mentors and Youth Development programs to model and promote positive lifestyles, personal responsibility, relationship skills and decision making skills. Fresh Start aims to reduce youth offending by increasing opportunities and skills for the young person. Please note that Fresh Start referrals can only be made via Child Youth and Family Youth Justice.
